Newbie question: Youtube pays $1-$5 per thousand views, this means a 1.5M viewed video, made them $450,000 at least?
I feel like I have done my maths wrong. I watch so many vids from creators who have 1M to 10M view vids, but I had no idea it was that much cash?

Nowhere near. A 150 million view video might make that but even then it’s doubtful. Depends on the niche but I’d say they probably made a few grand. $3-$4k maybe but it depends hugely on the niche the video is in.

Depends on your subject that the advertisement is paying for view times.
I suggest asking YouTube for videos explaining the payout levels. -

So ya you’re off quite a bit. It all depends on engagement and channel popularity

1,500 – 5000$ if all of the 1.5m views is monetized.
It depends on niche. For example, finance niche would even get you 20,000 – 30,000 on the 1.5m views. -
How does it work?
Once you hit those numbers, does YouTube contact you? -
Youtube pays you only when your videos have been approved and monetized.
