New fashion brand, new google ads account – performance max or standard shopping?
Hi all, as the question states – which one is best?
We are very hesitant to use pmax simply because it means google can just waste our money on their shitty display and demand gen networks which everyone knows contains junk/trash traffic – this is the main reason google created pmax afterall!
However, our concern with using standard shopping is down to the fact that it feels like google have strong armed everyone into using pmax through their total manipulation of the google shopping traffic i.e. diverting better quality traffic via pmax, and leaving the lower quality for the standard shopping channels….
So which route is likely to give us the best performance? I'm not even sure that google ads do even perform much anymore….so the words "best performance" are probably not right – so a better way to put it might be – which route would likely perform least poorly lol?

since the account is pretty new I would start with standard shopping.. gather some data for pmax to hunt them down.. then split out your products based on performance.. don’t have the same sku’s in both pmax and shopping

You can do a feed only PMax campaign, which would have most of your budget show up in SERP’s shopping ad carousel. There is nothing wrong with using standard shopping. It can be good in the early days to help better manage bids and also make sure your shopping feed is ranking for the right searches. We just launched standard shopping for a niche shoe client and things are going great. Unless you have a decent budget to get more then 1 conversion per day, PMax could struggle with not having enough conversion data to feed off of.

Get your self accepted on Google Merchant Center. Link it with G Ads and then go with Performance Max
