Need help about the google ads editör

Posted by elenorr_4 on September 7, 2024 at 9:09 am

    Hello,

I need to upload bulk ads using Google Ads Editor. We are going to run an A/B test.

The test we need to perform is to test the existing pinned texts against texts without pins.

When I download the existing ads, remove the pins, and re-upload them, it uploads the ads instead of adding to them. What should I do?

One of the few things where bing ads is imo better than Google, you have an Ad ID so when you make changes and re upload the ads, it updates existing ads based on the Ad ID.

Google doesn’t do this, the only way I know is to make sure changes are made in the editor not uploaded from a sheet, then it will update existing ads. This has been a pain in my side for years, perhaps someone else has a solution for us, but I think it’s a limitation in the system.

    EDIT:

Sorry I think I misread this. You want to create new ad entities with the pins changed to compare right? Then in this case you can make the change in a spreadsheet and upload through editor, editor should create new ads. If not, you can change part of the ads and add some kind of placeholder so it recognises these as new ads and then use find and replace on the placeholder to make the ads correct again.

Hope this makes sense, feel free to DM if you have any questions.

I have come across this myself at times. I solved by exporting the ads into excel, created a variation but duplicated landing page, just with a new name. Updated the URL in the spreadsheet, then reimported the ads back into editor. It saw those as new and not an edit on an old ad.
