I just read about Facebook’s new "Content Monetization" beta. Supposedly it’s a 'groundbreaking' program to help creators make more money. Well, I’m calling BS.

Let’s be real: Meta’s "Content Monetization" platform is just a profit-sharing scheme that benefits Meta more than creators. Facebook and Instagram aren’t social networks—they’re ad platforms, plain and simple. Creators are generating billions for Meta, while getting breadcrumbs in return.

It’s like a digital casino; we gamble our time creating content, hoping it goes viral or reaches enough people to make a difference. But in today’s world, it’s all pay-to-play. If you’re not shelling out money, the algorithm limits your reach until you do.

Creators are the lifeblood of these platforms, but Meta is laughing all the way to the bank while we fight for views.

Here’s the truth: True ownership of your content doesn’t happen on platforms like Meta; it happens on platforms where you control the revenue. Why give your content away for free, hoping for virality, when you could be building on platforms where you keep 100% of what you earn?

Don’t get caught up in chasing blue checks and likes. Meta claims to have shared billions with creators; but what’s the real cost?

Is Meta really helping creators, or just selling us hope?
