The winner, here, looks like the Aggregator, Seen. I’m really curious to see how they implement considering the different APIs and rights issues that exist between all existing platforms. Most platforms already have users that act as content aggregators for other platforms, so building aggregation into a whole new platform itself is a smart move.
But I gotta be honest, I think Social Tip and Butterflies are probably not going to take off. Audiences tend to gravitate towards authentic participation. For Social Tip the problem is that even if you reward users for posting about brands, that doesn’t necessarily increase the effectiveness of brand-based marketing. It might inflate numbers in a way that looks good in the Ad Tech, but if that doesn’t include actual, sustained engagement then its not a good marketing tool.
For Butterflies, I have yet to see any evidence that audiences prefer engaging with AI over other users. Its certainly a hot trend, but much like NFTs I think the hype of Natural Language Processing won’t survive its reality. However, Users always find new and interesting ways to engage with platforms, so if the space is made to capitalize on our collective need to gamify everything on the internet then it has a chance of sustained growth. I could see MUDs, ARGs, LARPs, or other interactive networked multimedia doing very well, if the platform allows its users some control over the API.
