Looking for Google Ads Advice for Local Gym – $25-50 Daily Budget

Posted by scottbarehoes on September 8, 2024 at 3:03 am

I run a local service-based business (gym) and I’m looking for help with setting up Google Ads to generate leads. I have a daily budget of $25-50.

    Could anyone offer advice on:

    • Search Campaign structure (or advice if you think I should do more than search…?)
    • Any tips on keywords would be awesome

Any tips for optimizing on this smaller budget would be greatly appreciated!

P.S. I'm also looking to not get scammed if I hire someone – is this worth hiring someone to do it for me? I have marketing experience so I'm not bad with tech – have run fb ads for years.

It might be a good idea to get someone to set it up and explain some things to you, then you can manage it going forward. At that budget considering you are familiar with paid ads in some way, you could likely handle it if it’s setup well. Happy to chat if you are interested.

Consider investing in some media in order to utilize other GADS networks such as: Display, DemandGen, and YouTube.

It works better for your vertical.

    Hope it helps.

Here’s how I would tackle the structure:

    – 1 search campaign

    – tight-knit, exact match keywords around “gym near me” or “gym in LOCATION”.

    – 1 responsive search ad and make sure to use dynamic location insertion (or at least mention your location a lot.

Aside from that, most important will be to have a really good offer on your website. Gym’s are a competitive industry so make sure someone has a really good reason to sign up. Might want to mix in some social at a low budget.

I recommend using the Keyword Planner tool in the Google Ads platform and putting some keywords related to your business to get an idea of what keywords have the highest searches within your service area as well as average cost per click.
That will give you an idea of how much money you would need to invest to cover all the relevant keywords and how that compares against your daily budget. If your budget is too small for the market, it might make more sense to focus on particular topics/services or very specific and high-intent keywords on exact match type rather than a spread reach-all strategy with phrase and broad match types.
As for structure, it could be a good idea to have one campaign per service, or per keyword theme, but your budget might be too low to justify that and you might be better off by starting with just one campaign and dividing topics by ad group instead.

Search only. 2 campaigns, one for exact match brand keywords only. Those added as negative to the non brand campaign. Many rounds of search query analysis and keywords blocking/expansion. Build a high converting landing page with a good offer ($1 first month, 50% off if you pay 6 months in advance…). Set up your conversion tracking well.

Your budget is very small, so hiring someone good would eat up a lot of it. If you can do all the stuff I spoke to, then you don’t need to hire anyone.

Maybe try running it yourself for 90 days and if it goes well cool, and if it goes poorly try hiring an agency or freelancer.
