I’m working on a website for a plumber who offers about 20 different services in 20 different towns. I’m looking for an optimal way to rank his services in each town.

Ideally it would be great if I could do one page for each service and add a list of towns we serve at bottom of page, however I don’t think thats the case.

What is the best way to structure a site like this? Do I need a page specifically designed for each service for each location? Or does Google understand by my services page what services I offer and my location zi offer it in?

If I need a page for each service and area, that would be 400 pages, each with unique content. There isnt much competition in the area.

The vast majority of searches would be like “sink repairman” or “toilet repair near me”.

Any examples or insights would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

You only need one page for each service.

Then make one page for each town IF the town population warrants it. If its a small town right next to another, just mention the small town in the larger towns page.

If the GMB is close enough to all those areas it might be worth it. In general you’ll want a set of city-service pages for each GMB. That’s where you’ll get the most traction. Otherwise you’ll have to do a lot more external work to get those pages to rank for the other locations.
