Last week i was on very interesting conversation on Social media growth
Hello Everyone,
Last week, I had this great opportunity to be a part of a group that was meeting up to discuss some challenges of social media. I literally enjoyed it. The way everyone in that group gave and acquired others' experiences was so impressive.Today I want to share some key points that were part of that conversation. I'll also share some of my own insights about how social media algorithms work, based on my personal tests and the results I've seen in terms of increased reach and engagement.
Firstly, I would like to guide you through the process of increasing engagement on a low-performing or newly created social media account (specifically Instagram and Facebook).
What I think is there is a high requirement for creating a strategy for social content rather than going with random things. I was handling the social media part for a hotel business, what I did initially was collect pictures and videos of the hotel and start creating reels and posts out of it. I opted for two content strategies by considering the use of social media. People like to spend time on social media for entertainment or information in most cases. So, I chose to go with reels (from those photos and videos) and another was memes, which are highly engaging.
After a week or so, I started running meta engagement ads for some of the selected posts. This led to increased reach, engagement, and follower growth. I continued this for a week.
At the end of this whole process and continuous posting, I found that memes were working great on Facebook, and reels related to hotel videos were creating more engagement on Instagram.
Secondly, I want to highlight the role of hashtags.
I believe that to achieve better reach for any business, social media algorithms require training and an understanding of post context. Therefore, despite using mixed hashtags in a single post, it's crucial to maintain specificity for that post. For instance, the social media for a hotel I managed included rooms, banquet halls, and an on-site restaurant. When creating a post for the restaurant, it was beneficial to use solely restaurant-focused hashtags like #bestrestaurant #veganrestaurant. This approach allowed the algorithm to concentrate on one aspect and prioritize the desired promotion.
It is also important to check the volume of Instagram and Facebook posts using the hashtags you plan to employ. Try to avoid hashtags with millions of posts to increase the visibility of your own post and prevent it from being lost amidst other popular content.
Please let me know if this adds some value to your business. With positive response, I'll try to be consistent on such type of posts in future as well. Thanks for reading. Have a wonderful day 🙂
