  • Issues with Facebook BM and Pixel regarding (fake?) results and data

I’ve been running facebook ads to attract customers to our website for a few years now but have never ran into this issue before.

I have a landing page set up with a contact form for the customer to fill in, after which it takes them to the /end.html page, upon reaching which FB counts it as a lead. At first, I just had a simple PHP script set up that’d hit me up with an email once a customer has filled in their contact information.

But over the past week or two I’ve ran into FB displaying ridiculous stats relative to the actual amount of orders I’ve been getting.

Without much hesitation I had a guy set up a more advanced system with a proper database and freshly written PHPMailer script to avoid potential problems I might run into with google’s spam filters.

However not much has changed since then. Both facebook and Pixel keep showing leads, which I simply had not received.

A few points I should make:

    – You can’t submit a blank form

    – Refreshing on /end.html page will not result in fb racking up the lead numbers

    – Leads are not counted upon pressing the Send Form button on the site, but upon reaching the /end.html page.

Honestly I’m kinda lost. Is it facebook just being facebook or have I really been getting only 3 out of 80 orders placed over the past few days?

*Update:* I have hooked up yandex metrics to add another source of tracking visits to the /end.html page and had just received a lead according both to google and facebook. Yandex sits at 0 page views though. Mindblown as to what is going on.

You’d have to investigate in the events manager tab on Facebook.

Go into the Events Manager section on Facebook. Once you’re in there, click on your pixel. Then under the pixel events near the bottom click on view details for the purchase or lead event event, then click the activity tab.

You’ll see time stamps for each event, their value, and the URL they happened on. See if you notice any patterns or irregularities between them. Common ones are double fires.

Have you thought about using a Custom Conversion with your Facebook Pixel? I prefer that over counting leads from an end.html page.
