So I’ve had this verified account with large following reach out to me recently asking if I’d like to grow my followers base through promotions. I googled the person and they do in fact exist, the account is verified, and I’ve been watching the pages they promote closely and they have had increase in followers. But it all just seems a bit too good to be true? Not to mention that anyone can distort their representation on social media.

Has anyone had any similar experiences? Is it a scam? If you don’t want to post about it publicly, please feel free to DM me so I can speak to you because I really wanna know.

Yes if somebody is approaching you, asking you to pay what they are proposing to you it’s most likely fishy

It’s a scam in as much as the quality of the followers you might generate will be very poor. If all you care about is a vanity number of followers, then fine but for anything else – e.g. you are building a brand, a community, trying to sell something etc it is fundementally a waste of your time and money. You would be better off putting money into instagram ads to target a properly defined audience that might actually be interested in what you are saying/doing

Last couple of days I’ve seen many obvious scam posts and people asking if it’s real or a scam. Getting dejavu from Facebook days.

FYI even verified accounts get hacked. Organic growth is always ideal. Quality of engagement for someone running a legit business will be at its best from a real target audience not robot accounts that you may get from a hack job.
