They’re decent, it’s just not as SEO focused as I’d like(personal preference). You should still watch it though, I really like how they present it and most of their videos have relevance. Haven’t really watched much from Moz, Neil Patel is bleh, he’s got some decent keyword research tips but not much on content imo.

There are some independent youtubers, incomeschool has some good older stuff for content, but you’ll need to go a year or 2 back. Their new content is bleh, so ignore that. I think yoast had some decent stuff up a while back.

Those should give you a basic foundation. That’s just my 2c.

They are decent. I find that they sometimes have great ideas. And like another redditor said, just not Neil Patel. Best way to learn is to actually do the work. Everyone’s experience with seo is a little different. Some techniques work for some people and their niches or keywords but some don’t.

The good thing about their information content is that they often provide a secondary free tool if you cant afford Ahrefs and a lot of it is actionable tips based on results as opposed to general opinion which you see a lot in the SEO community these days.

At least thats my personal opinion (pun intended)

Learning SEO is hard because it’s an industry based on bullshit.

Google doesn’t tell us its algorithm. It’s a black box. We know what we know by reverse engineering the SERP as best we can and by what Google is willing to tell us. But, both those methods come with flaws.

With the former, bullshit artists say whatever they want, it’s impossible to prove / disprove and the echo chamber of the Internet makes things that may not even be true seem important. You end up wasting time.

With the latter. Google isn’t exactly clamoring to tell us every detail of their algorithm. They tell us what they want us to know which is effectively summed up as ”create good content that people want”. I suggest going on YouTube and searching for Matt Cutts and what he has to say on various subjects. Problem with those videos is they were mostly filmed in 2011/2012 so who knows if the answers are outdated now. Either way, I’d start there.

As far as ahrefs youtube channel…. There’s some info in there that’s interesting. Sometimes they release videos and I shake my head in disbelief though. They definitely have the bias that their keyword research tool can accurately estimate search volume… It can’t. Particularly with low volume long tail keywords. Remember that when you watch those videos.

I would say no unless you actually have ahrefs. Almost all their videos use the tool or pitch it. Not saying it’s bad. But if you sit down to watch the 10-minute video and then halfway through they pull up the tool you’ve wasted your time. And this happens almost every single video.

Semrush has better videos and more diverse topics. Ezoic has been releasing better stuff lately as well.

I approach SEO from a marketing / UX emphasis. By really focusing on matching what your user wants to do on a site with what you want them to do on a site you can see the most natural uptick in conversions and engagement. The keyword research and other tools help you understand what the users are trying to do, so even if it’s not as direct as “I want to rank for _____ keyword, you are still making site improvements that will benefit your users overall online presence and no matter what Google voodoo happens, you can trust that you making valuable changes that will have an positive impact where it matters most.

Youtube channels such as Ahrefs, SEMrush, Moz and even BiQ (the latest SEO suite) all will be teaching you the fundamentals of SEO. In SEO, the best way you can learn is by doing it yourself. It’s not easy but if you want fast results, you’re better off with using ads

This depends on your potential how you grab things.

Full Disclosure – I am a business owner as well, NOT an SEO specialist. I have an Ahrefs Account for 1 reason. I research the strongest companies in my industry. I then replicate the format and tweak what they are doing to do it better. It’s very tedious but it’s starting show value.
