Is my Google Ads Specialist Lying to me? His own name instead of company name.

Posted by Affectionate-Net6249 on September 17, 2024 at 6:30 pm

Hi, can somebody help with this? Not sure why this happened.

Instead of my company name, it says my Google Ads Specialist's name.

Did he make a mistake? Because he told me it was just the default thing that Google does. That's strange, because the google account is not under his name, it's under mine. So it doesn't make any sense why it would be the default thing to do.

I guess the screenshot is an ad, which would mean your Google ads freelancer would have entered a name somewhere during the ad creation process. If your name and or company name is listed everywhere in the ad account, then Google should default to your name or company name for a campaign.

Is that a performance max campaign? I guess he typed his own name as business name when the account was created. You can change it under the account settings.

probably a mistake by him, instead of his name, there should be your business name. He can easily fix this in a minute.

They are lying. They made a mistake somewhere. My guess is they are running things from their own account instead of an MCC, which is not how you should run things.

ETA: Not sure why I am getting downvoted, this is the correct answer. There is no reason someone’s own name would show in an ad unless they made a mistake.

Report to Google asap. Send them an email.

He probably just needs to put your business name in as the Business Name logo because Google likely automatically used his for whatever reason. He probably entered it when setting up the account originally and Google just went with that.

Your specialist needed to verify the ad account and like used his own ID to do it. I’m guessing you let him create the account and don’t hand over one you already owned?

Best thing to do is to cease using that account and start up a new one. This time, make you handle the verification and use your business details.

Really amateur mistake. Fire able error almost. Advertiser verification is been a big deal for years – impossible to overlook

He probably verified your account with his name, and it’s using that as the automated business name. The only other thing he can change it to is whatever your domain name is. So if your website is http://www.COMPANY.com, you would put COMPANY as your business name under assets.

The image you provided isn’t very helpful.

In the case of search ads, if it’s the “company name” that would indicate that your provider has verified the ads account they are using with their own company (agency brand). That’s really bad for a number of reasons.

In the case of display/discovery or similar ads it may be the company logo or other image. This can easily be replaced in creatives.

It may also be automatically added by Google, in which case your provider should turn of automatically generated creatives.
