  • Is it true that you cannot rank on Google with zero traffic?

Posted by Realistic-Plant3957 on December 10, 2023 at 6:57 am

Hey, I would like to know whether it is a myth or a truth.

Can a new blog with zero traffic rank on Google for very low competition keywords?

I am talking about keywords that either have no sites used in their H1 or irrelevant pages rank for those keywords because there are no sites that target those keywords.

Do these sites need traffic from other sources to get ranked on Google search?

    >Is it true that you cannot rank on Google with zero traffic?

    No.

    >Can a new blog with zero traffic rank on Google for very low competition keywords?

Yes. Realistically, this never happens. There will be at least one visitor (you) to look at the blog article after publishing it. So, the traffic is technically not zero.

    >Do these sites need traffic from other sources to get ranked on Google search?

No. But of course, traffic from other sources can be good for SEO:

    1. The traffic can help you with validation and feedback. If you share a link on X (Twitter) and people like the content, it will likely resonate with people who search on Google.
    2. If you can get a lot of attention to your content, there are some things Google might see (Chrome/CrUX, DNS requests, URL mentioned in GMail) and things Google will see (people searching for the URL/domain in Google). These are brand signals (part of EEAT) that might encourage Google to crawl, index, and rank your website.

No, but it doesn’t make sense. For whom are you trying to rank if there’s no searcher or traffic?

Hey i am currently experimenting a website, uploading articles on a single micro niche, with almost 0 volume and cpc > 0.1 $ in semrush,
i am getting now 300 visitors a month now, and i am into the 3rd month, so yes it’s possible to rank on Google with 0 traffic and 0 backlinks

Yes, you can rank on Google without any traffic; it depends on Keywords. If you add the long-tail keyword then you can rank in Google easily. The next is site hosting or the platform.

How would new sites ever rank if you can’t rank with zero traffic?

I have (*in very rare instances involving very longtail keywords*) ranked for my target phrase with sites that had less thank 3k traffic. Not the same as zero, but close. 🙂

Edit: In both instances, the brands are using other methods to establish their presence–LinkedIn, direct traffic, PR, etc. I have not ranked for my tiny personal website using this strategy.

Yup, you can rank on Google you just need to find out low KD keywords.

For this – no – you should be able to. You need Authority – you wont get indexed – once you’re indexed you’re effectively ranking. Getting indexed with no authority is the first problem a new domain need to get over. But once your domain and home page are indexed, you can go after those.

You can rank without zero traffic. But it’s has to be a qualitative one and needs to meet the audiences questions. In my opinion more than keyword you need to solve the problem.

You can definitely rank number 1 on google if your keywords are not competitive

Competition is not defined by third party tools.
That metric, keyword difficulty, is BS.
You can rank with a new site for low competitive terms, but that’s nothing to do with KD.

You can rank on Google for low ranking keywords in one day easily. I’ve don’t it for many of my blog posts. However, many people don’t like this route. But, video. Make a YouTube video, embed it, done. Now, you’re URL might not actually rank right way but your YouTube video will. Next, link to your blog post in the YT description and in a decent amount of time you’ll rank high. Works for me 8/10 times. As far as the written content, use SurferSEO’s AI generated content writer, then edit it to make it more humanized. ✅ Want proof, just ask and I’ll tell you the keywords I’ve done it for.

If you have a blog with the domain “Frankiegoesviralblog.com” and someone searches for “Frankie goes viral blog” you will probably rank pretty high haha. That is even with no traffic. But if someone is searching for something so so so very low in competition and they find you, they might actually be looking for you and the result is… your traffic is no longer be 0. If you are using low competition just to rank for those keywords with no intention to convert well then it would be kind of pointless.

EVERY website starts with 0 traffic, they have to be ranking for something to go from 0 to 1 user. To “rank” does not mean your site will be on the ‘first page’ no matter what. You could be the top 10 for 1 phrase and be 98435987983759834759834753985749 for the next search with different words.

traffic is not a ranking signal.

Ask yourself, “can it be faked?”

    Traffic can be faked.

Therefore, it’s not a ranking signal.
