Or is the long video content also necessary?

Combining both is really the best move for growing on YouTube.

Not answering the specific question but may be helpful… See if your shorts could be filmed in a long format (similar topics combined into points) and then cut into stand alone shorts.

Then you have 1 long and 3 shorts for example.

You can do content repurposing, create longer and from them make shorter versions which will be linked to long videos

Yes. I grew my channel from 0 to 331k subscribers in 9 months, posting 674 shorts

I’m at 6.5k from just my shorts alone. I repost the same content I post on IG and TikTok. So yes it’s possible, but that doesnt necessarily translate to more views on my long-form videos. So depends on what you are looking to do. I believe in order to monetize via shorts you need like 1 million plays or something like that

It may sound lame to say … but anything is possible.

If you’re asking “can I get by doing just this” as opposed to “what will increase my chances of making this successful” you haven’t established the mindset that will make you to thrive. Shift your mindset, you’ll get further. Go look at your competition and identify what they’re doing right and wrong. Evaluate whether long vids contribute to the success of your top competitors.
