Is it possible to build 500 backlinks in a month?
My company has assigned a task to create 500 backlinks in a month. Is that easily possible?
could anyone suggest a better strategy to achieve my goal?
NB: I know quality matters more than quantity. but this is the task my manager wants me to do by myself.

It is certainly possible. But it all depends on the industry, the type of content etc.
Have you done outreach before? If not, this sounds like pretty bad leadership.

Not get 500 quality backlinks a month unless you paid for them and you better have deep pockets, you will be lucky to get 5 never mind 500’ -
If you built 500 backlinks in a month you would negatively affect your SEO. Having a natural looking backlink profile is very important.
