Is 32 years too late to start making content on instagram and youtube from scratch
Posted by pp227 on August 21, 2024 at 3:12 pmI was not a big social media fan. I only used to use facebook for friends and family connections.
Now i am working on to make by own business and planning to open instagram and youtube to make some content for my business. My goal is to drive traffic to my business ultimately. All the quick success content i see there are too fancy genz are nailing it.
At my age at 32 , i am not sure if anyone would event watch my event. I dont have a nice accent or style like them too to talk on video. Just a typical middle aged guy. I am feeling inferior now is it event worth for me to try entering social media at this point of my life.
What do you think about the social media reality now?pp227 replied 8 months, 3 weeks ago 2 Members · 1 Reply -

GuestAugust 21, 2024 at 3:19 pmI totally get where you’re coming from. Social media can feel intimidating, especially when it seems like everyone else has it all figured out. But honestly, your age and experience can be huge assets. There’s a whole audience out there looking for relatable, authentic content from people who aren’t just flashy influencers. It’s never too late to start—you just need to be consistent and find your niche. Focus on what makes your perspective unique, and don’t worry about fitting into a specific mold. You got this!

GuestAugust 21, 2024 at 3:20 pmI mean, what is your goal?
Most people that become successful start out out of passion. You can talk literally about anything as soon as you are knowledgable, likeable and know how to edit your content so it works, you can become successful.

GuestAugust 21, 2024 at 3:25 pmNo, it is not. Just start doing it. Don’t limit yourself based on age. If it is about business and so on, it can even be helpful to be 32. No one wants to listen to an 18 years old business guru.

GuestAugust 21, 2024 at 3:55 pmWhen starting your own business, there are 3 key things to consider:
1. What product or service will you offer?
2. Who is your target customer or client?
3. How will you reach and sell to those customers? So, it’s not about your age. In fact, your experience can be an advantage.

GuestAugust 21, 2024 at 4:03 pmYou can start making content on social media at your 50s. At your 60s. At your 70s. Even at your 90s.
Any and all obstacles are just in your head. Always. Get ahead of that little voice that finds excuses deep in your head. Smile. Sit down and make a plan. Experiment. Try again and again. You got this and anything else you put your mind to.
All of you!! At any age! 💪💪
Are you still reading my comment? Gooooo, make a start!! 🙂😎

GuestAugust 21, 2024 at 4:10 pmI feel the same way as a older, young person (trademarked, btw) trying to understand/use socials for all kinds of things. Not sure what response would be or if it is going to be a waste of time (hello, Facebook).

GuestAugust 21, 2024 at 4:10 pmDefinitely not! The thing with social media marketing is there’s really no barrier to entry except knowing how to use the platforms, which billions of people do every day.
To start with, try creating your own accounts and seeking out creators who relate to your interests. Forget the business aspect, just look for stuff you like. It may take some time, but eventually, you’ll learn both sides of social media:
1. How the average person uses it from the audience POV
2. How talented people use it from the creator POVThese two concepts are essential to expertly employing social media for your own business. One thing you’ll discover is that it’s not all hip, stylish kids. People of every age and every interest can be found online, and can get their ideas out to a massive audience. It’s all about passion and effort.

GuestAugust 21, 2024 at 4:17 pmI’m 54 and my wife is 53. We just built an entire social media super app that’s larger in code than Facebook, TikTok and X combined.
You’re still young. You got this!

GuestAugust 21, 2024 at 4:24 pmThe stuff you see on Instagram in your feed is kind of like hollywood, these people worked up to where they have a team working for them. Script writing, filming, editing, distribution.
I can’t compete with “neu hollywood”, but you gotta start somewhere.
Though you gotta start and see if you even like it. Social media a hamster wheel, the platforms want you to create more content so that people have more to see, so that they can sell more ads. And they set the rules so if you don’t post frequently enough it will never get anywhere.
If you’ve got something valuable to say, try it for sure. Remember the goal of the platforms are to keep people in the platforms so don’t be talking about some external service all the time and trying to get people to check it out. That’ll never work, the algos will never share your content. Just take the value you have and share it and try to be as interesting as you can. Learn about storytelling.
Also something that keeps you from going nuts on the hamster wheel is to batch your content creation. Make as many pieces of content in a day and then for a week post them. If you have to create everyday, you are bound not to like it.
Buying ads on these platforms is usually an easier route for marketing, though that’s also a learning process to make it work for most industries.
I miss the good ol days where organic had a change on social networks and search engines. Bands, small boutiques, and startups could just make content and it would go. There’s still a place for organic, though you have to practice enough to become exception.
If you’ve never tried it, jump in there and give a go. Don’t try to be perfect. Just keep going, learning, improving.
It’s never too late age wise either! If you find you love it, you will do great and eventually you’ll make the money to take your message even further.
