Instagram vs. Twitter: Which is better for promoting art?
Posted by Successful-Soil-4879 on April 23, 2023 at 10:25 pmI’ve been sharing my art on Instagram but haven’t seen much growth in my follower count. I’m considering trying Twitter to see if it might be a better platform for promoting my work.
What have your experiences been with these platforms?

GuestApril 24, 2023 at 1:09 amInstagram should be better since it’s a visual platform. Maybe you can try to make a video about the process of your art. Build a storyline about it. You can try tiktok as well.

GuestApril 24, 2023 at 4:54 amThough, are you actually promoting your artwork or are you merely posting images?
I am referring to basics like using appropriate tags on a per post basis (you can add and tweak them also on old posts), and interacting with other pages (in your case curator accounts and publications). -

GuestApril 24, 2023 at 5:29 amIf your focus is selling NFTs, then Twitter is your platform. Otherwise, Instagram should be your main focus.
That said, Twitter’s Algo is open source now & there’s lots of OP exploits you can take advantage of.
if you can do short form video, yt shorts & TikTok should also be on your list.
Lastly, Pinterest is a major sales channel for Etsy & POD artists I know.
Pick 1 & get good at it. It’ll feel like screaming into the void for a while, but it’s usually a snowball build. Once things start to happen faster, they tend to happen even faster.

GuestApril 24, 2023 at 7:35 amThe question is, how are you promoting those? Cause instagram is where you will grow more. So conclusion comes is you are doing social media marketing wrong.

GuestApril 24, 2023 at 8:21 amTwitter can be a great place to connect with other artists and build a community, but it may not have the same level of visual appeal as Instagram.

GuestApril 24, 2023 at 8:36 amInstagram is more “visual” but the algorithm changed a lot and I read that to worse, I think you can use Twitter to have a better community and where you can connect with other artists

GuestApril 24, 2023 at 8:58 amI would consider decentralized alternatives, especially if you prefer NFT work as art. For example in Solcial you can create a whole collection of your work and find a response from the hearts of many enthusiasts who visit this platform and appreciate art. In any case I would experiment with platforms, even the most exotic ones, you are sure to find something of your own.

GuestApril 24, 2023 at 12:28 pmTwitter is amazing for sharing technicalities and to physically sell your art. IG is great for actually sharing your work and also behind the scenes of making it.
