Instagram post / story / reel conversion effectiveness for vintage sellers?
I have a fairly good following in my antique / vintage niche with online store and marketplaces (several thousand followers). This is in line with some other top sellers within this niche but what I have noticed is that I get near 0% conversion when looking at Google analytics for visits from Instagram (vs. an average marketplace conversion of 2-3%). Any messages I do get in response to stories or post comments are either spam, asks for shipping to unreasonable places (not do-able for small furniture items internationally), or what I would call ‘dealer price requests’. That would be – either vintage collectors asking for prices below my cost, or other vintage dealers who want to effectively scalp money on my pieces and offer them to their own clients (not even a consignment model).
It is effectively net 0 in benefit to sales in that I have by having to patrol for these comments, or even remove comments that are sort of detrimental (like pricing begging in a public form, which I don’t see as easing future visitors to conversion).
Any other vintage dealers have experience in building up IG followings which actually serve to convert, and not just an army of window shoppers?
