Innapropriate P-Maxx image expansion, going against my settings

Posted by imgolden27 on November 10, 2022 at 4:36 pm

P-maxx has been great for my company, despite the lack of control and visibility. However, I have a big issue.

I recieved an email from a coworker saying they were served a weird ad: [https://imgur.com/a/KJYmPCe](https://imgur.com/a/KJYmPCe)

We are an educational software company, we have nothing to do with military, firearms, or gaming. So not only is this image inappropriate and tacky it’s not even remotely relevant. This seems like an image that would actually be struck down by policy, if someone where to try and upload it. But, there it is.

Thinking I missed an image expansion setting, I reviewed all my (albeit, limited) settings and found nothing. I roped in my Google rep (who is actually pretty good and helpful, probably because we spend a lot) and he couldn’t figure it out. He then got some sort of Google p-maxx “specialist” on board and *they* can’t even figure it out.

So, to sum it up, my settings are all correct and they are still serving terrible automated image ads. Has anyone ever run into this before?

Edit: I have uploaded a bunch of nice images and copy. I have not provided any video.

Are you not including your own image assets? If you don’t provide your own assets, Google will auto-generate video, audio, text etc.

A client ran into this issue over the weekend. A weird image was served in an ad, even though we had images loaded. It was also a competitor product image in the ad which is what made our situation weird. Is Final URL turned off in the campaign? I wonder if that has a bug capturing the wrong images.

Have you got dynamic image extensions turned on?
