In which format should I upload 16:9 videos as a reel on Instagram?
Hey,
I produce videos for Youtbube and would like to upload reels with excerpts of the videos to Instagram. But now I'm wondering how I should upload the actual 16:9 horizontal clips to Instagram: still normal 16:9 so that the whole screen is filled or vertical but so that the video is still horizontal only smaller so that it fits in the portrait format? I hope this is understandable.
What do you think will ultimately achieve more reach? -

You should upload as post because if you upload as reels video with be converted to 9:16 with black frame but as post it stays as 16:9

If you want to maximize reach, upload in 9:16. also don’t just simply convert the video but make it social.

To upload a 16:9 video as a reel on Instagram:
* Convert it to a 9:16 aspect ratio by cropping or adding borders.
* Export it in 1080 x 1920 resolution, MP4 format, H.264 video codec, and AAC audio codec.
* Upload it via the Instagram app, ensuring it fits the vertical format preferred by Reels. -
