Impatient client!
Posted by ActNaive on July 15, 2024 at 10:07 amI have a client who just signed up a week ago and is moaning about lack of leads. He even went into the account making loads of changes himself. Is it realistic to tell them to wait at least 30 days before panicking!?

GuestJuly 15, 2024 at 10:46 amThere are 2 very important points you need to make to your client.
1. Results with ppc are not immediate, doesn’t matter who’s doing them. Google needs to learn and optimise (as do you) , if they go in and start changing things this potentially extends this learning period.
2. If he’s paying you to do a job then he needs to keep out of the account to let you work and do that job. Under no circumstances should he be going in and changing anything. If he expects to have this freedom then it might not be a bad idea to let him go and wish him well. He’s not going to get very far if that’s to be his attitude.
Going forward, before any agreements to work are made, these types of stipulations need to be made to the client very clearly.

GuestJuly 15, 2024 at 11:42 amThis won’t end well. I can handle impatient but making changes in the account is something I would fire him for.

GuestJuly 15, 2024 at 12:01 pmThanks for the feedback. I was thinking along the same lines. I’ll try to explain to give them a chance but will probably end up firing them.

GuestJuly 15, 2024 at 2:39 pmIt depends on what you promised him to begin with. No leads isn’t great after a week, even in a new account and even with a low budget.
You’ve got nothing to build on unless you have already determined several rounds of different tactics you’re planning. And this should have been communicated in advance. If you’re not ready to pivot why would he expect to see more leads next week?
If he already end-rounded you and made a bunch of changes you are just about fired at this point. I would jump on a call with them and hash out next steps, if any. At the very least you clear the air.

GuestJuly 15, 2024 at 5:56 pmCertainly a red flag.
Lay out your process and when he can realistically expect to see results.
If he is unhappy give him the option to end your contract.
