I want to seriously get into social media vlogging, just as a hobby. I don’t think I could make money off it. I’m also into digital marketing as a profession, (starting a position as an entry-level social media specialist in january)

I want to do some vlogging using front-facing camera. My current smartphone is a Huawei P30 pro lite, and the front-facing camera is abysmal. I had a galaxy smartphone before it, and xperia z3, xperia XZ, and the front-facing camera on all of them was also abysmal.

I’m not sure about the newer android flagships because I never had one. But I’m looking on YouTube and it seems like the iPhone’s front-facing video beats android in everything except night videos. Never had an iphone before, so not sure how it would feel.

Is it worth going the iphone route for social media(thinking about iphone mini 13)? Or just stick with an android phone(any recommendations?)?

I was an Android guy for more than a decade. And new phone after new phone was always inferior to iPhone cam. I switched in November 2021. The iPhone still bugs me in terms of some stuff it does but the camera is amazing.

Yeah, it’s really good. You don’t even need latest models

Get an iPhone because apps are biased as iOS supports more features on apps, especially Snapchat and Instagram.

But that’s only for using the apps, not recording footage. Arguably some Android phones have superior cameras.

Google pixel 6 Plus or google Pixel 7 Plus. You’re already an Android User and the cameras on Pixels are arguably as good – if not better – than iPhone. Couple with that issue of being able to do things like do transcriptions using Google’s Tensor wizardry and also asking the phone to <Hey Google, take a picture> whereas the iPhones Siri is sat there chewing crayons. iPhone will more easily mirror to your Mac though, if you’re recording the phone screen for anything. I like to run an FTP server on my Pixel to easily transfer whatever fucking file format I want to and from it, whereas the iPhones fisher price ecosystem makes it a pain in the arse. Also, Vanced app is only available for Android, which if you’re using a metric fuck tonne of YouTube, you’ll appreciate it 100000%. Like you, I’m tech agnostic and the iPhones are always at the back of my mind, but flexibility to what I want in MY chosen workflows trump that of apple trying to make me do it their way, that’s all. I don’t want to fight my tech, I want the bastard thing to flex to my will.

I’m an Android guy, but damn iPhone videos always look much better on social media.

I have an iPhone and a Galaxy S20 and I gotta say iphone for camera quality. Samsung is cool but I think the iphone looks markedly better. Especially when posting to IG. Android video looks terrible on IG. ??‍♂️
