So I wrote a few pages of my website and blog with GPT. In each instance I went in, validated info, added some personal context, but was still heavily relying on the gpt content.

I had some success late last year with pages at least starting to get ranked in the 20-30 range. Then in Feb/March they tanked and haven’t recovered. I’m considering:

Maintaining the url but rewriting most of it – with no more than 25-30% GPT content. Adding more internal and external links. Then asking Google to index again (they’re indexed now)

Is it worth my time? Or have I permanently screwed myself?

Generally, you should be using GPT for topic research and header content. Even naturally written content fluctuates in ranking but Google and other search platforms have wide swaths of data to recognize text patterns and it might be that they caught something with your content or that your site simply lost ranking due to other factors, technical or otherwise. I’d recommend a re-write, change the link structure, and then re-index to see if that changes things.

Get rid of that 25-30% as well and go for 100% original content. Keep an eye on your rankings but don’t expect a quick boost. So, be patient. If you don’t see the needle moving, try looking into other things that may have caused problems for you. So, it may require some trial and error.
