Forums Forums White Hat SEO Social Media I just got back into FB advertising. It has gotten a LOT better imo, more profitable somehow, but can we talk about something? …. I can’t be the only one seeing this stat in my “Audience Reached” section … 60% are 65+!

My ads are reaching 50-60% people who are OVER 65 years old.

I am not going to read anything into it. I just think it’s interesting… and it speaks for itself. But it’s hard to believe that the percentage is that fricken high.

But maybe it’s just my ads?! The algorithm?!

Any other fb advertisers able to weigh in?

I’ve run FB ads for various demographics and the general trend over the past few years: the older the audience, the more successful the ads.

It’s because younger users aren’t on FB.

Not sure what item/service/etc you are pushing, but if you don’t think it’s targeted towards the 65+ group then have FB filter out those people, otherwise you are just wasting money.

What objective are you running? In my experience, Facebook serves heavily to an older audience when you run click objectives but if I were to change the objective to conversions – without even touching targeting – 65+ impressions nearly disappears. The algo is borderline broken if the objective is anything but conversions.

Younger people aren’t on Facebook anymore. Even a lot of Gen X have moved to TikTok – I see even instagram is heading that way.

I deleted my business Facebook like two years ago and business actually got better for me purely based on the fact that I was now catering to a younger crowd who were easier and more pleasant to work with and who had no problem paying me my worth for the work I did…
