GuestDecember 27, 2022 at 5:56 pmIt’s new and it’s hard to detect if AI is used. Not sure how google feels about it. They are probably working on something that they plan on detecting if they don’t like AI being used.

GuestDecember 27, 2022 at 6:12 pmThat is what the helpful content updates have been about. They are able to detect it – to which degree of accuracy is unknown – but you can read on Twitter and I am sure Reddit of sites that have been hit by those two updates for AI-generated content. Lily Ray posts about the updates quite a bit and gives examples of sites that are hit.
Like any of the questionable SEO tactics out there, will sites see success with them (buying links, doorway pages, etc.) yes they will. But Google will only get better at detecting it and penalizing those sites it does catch.
I do think that using GPT to help with content creation and having more editors than writers will start to become the norm though.

GuestDecember 27, 2022 at 7:34 pmIt’s probably less about ChatGPT and the human touch and more about that fact most content on the web is just so terrible that anything slightly better will do well. The content that ChatGPT is creating is far from perfect, and wholly inconsistent, but, it can get the job done occasionally, and with some slightly editing, get a page there when needed.

GuestDecember 27, 2022 at 7:42 pmWhat scare me with chatGPT is the copyright claim side, the informations and content that he give you is mostly from the internet and other article. I asked him a question about my domain and gave me an answer from my website
And when asked to write the article, it was 80% from my article and other article that ranked first 5 in googlewith an Ai touch. -

GuestDecember 27, 2022 at 8:06 pmChatGPT is very new (Dec 2022 – i.e. less than 4 weeks old) and to see a significant impact in your ranking already would be surprising.
ChatGPT should be used as a helping source for writing content.
Several of the big SEO websites already quote Google’s guidelines that AI generated content is considered as spam. However, looking at the October 2022 Google update, this might no longer be the case! ?
For now, Google claims they cannot detect it automatically, but I suspect this is just a matter of time. If (spammy!) AI content is detected, manual action is likely to be taken (i.e. penalty).
Google acknowledges that AI content can help people overcome language barriers and improve their writing quality.
In the Google Webmaster Guidelines – now called “Google Search Essentials”, it is stated:
*Spammy automatically generated (or “auto-generated”) content is content that’s been generated programmatically without producing anything original or adding sufficient value; instead, it’s been generated for the primary purpose of manipulating search rankings and not helping users. Examples of spammy auto-generated content include:*
* *Text generated through automated processes without regard for quality or user experience*
* …So Google takes into consideration that AI content can be used as long as it still provides a valuable user experience and is helpful to the user.
The danger with ChatGPT is “copy and paste” without checking the facts.
It’s a super helpful tool, but additional time should be spent on making the content consumable for your users and containing the correct facts.

GuestDecember 28, 2022 at 12:12 amMy process is to ask for content based on my short and long keywords, give it headers and prompts etc. but ask for it in a strict and formal business language. I then run that through Grammarly, asking for a creative and friendly tone of voice which rewrites a lot of it.
I then go through it myself and change it where it hasn’t used words specific to my product or ingredients on the product we sell, move paragraphs around and what not and then run it through Grammarly again and plagiarise check it.

GuestDecember 28, 2022 at 3:34 amI have wondered what happens when the AI is learning from itself because people are using it too much ? I can’t see that being a good outcome!

GuestDecember 28, 2022 at 4:52 amI use jasper.ai and have been writing copy without the assistance of an AI for about five years. It’s the same thing as an ai robot (yes like iRobot) learning to develop the patterns around displaying the ability to be “conscious”. It’s just a matter of studying so many patterns and constantly entering new data into its system. I’ve found the same, even without my personal touches the content does fairly well on its own. The rhythms they’ve implemented mock a lot of professional level copy writers or at least people using serps and other tools like ahrefs effectively. However while not exactly congruent I’ve noticed similar content being produced when working on tasks for different clients within the same niche. I’m just a writer though, so this is only just my best theory.

GuestDecember 28, 2022 at 5:00 amThere’s an entire internet of information for ChatGPT to draw from. I just wonder how good the articles will be when speaking on niche topics with almost no existing online informational content.

GuestDecember 28, 2022 at 5:53 amIt may rank well until the next algo update. Been there, done that with Jasper. ?
Everything ranked and then I got hammered by the helpful content update.
