I'm gonna take the advice a lot of people here told me plus what some other marketers told me also. $50 a day for 200+ skus seems ridiculous. I'm gonna contact my suppliers and ask for their list of best sellers. I'm gonna run batches of 30 products at a time. For every positive ROAS product, I'll keep it in the campaign. When that campaign is finished I'll test the next 30, and so on until I test them all in small batches. Whatever has negative ROAS will be used for organic traffic. Any thoughts?

When I work with clients who have large catalogues I tend to first prove out the best sellers, then continue to add from there. Depending on my timeline of when things need to be moving.

If we are talking about finding the profitable ROAS, then we recommend to let the ads run on all catalogue items. Because both the Meta and Google Ads are now AI enabled, this works across your ad account level. Whether it’s about finding the right audience, bidding, or in this case the catalogue items. The Ads will choose the right audience and to start showing the preferred products based on each user.

For an example, if we are running the ads for a women’s clothing store brand and you have enabled the catalogue items only for the dresses. In this case, the audience which the ads are targeting might not be interested in dresses. If they have shown interest in let’s say bottomwear on other brands, the ads can be lined up to show the bottomwear product if they have the full catalogue access. It’s recommended to have the catalogue match rate of 90% atleast and the same goes for the conversions too.

The strategy makes sense but if you end up making money with best sellers I would consider increasing budget and then adding more SKUs.

The problem with this test outside of the small budget is that this test won’t take things like seasonality or highs/lows in the ad account and its performance into account. If you want to run shopping campaigns properly, increase your daily budget to $100 per day. Otherwise, you just keep continuing to waste time and money.
