I feel like I’ve hit the wrong audience – should I create a new account?
I've had an Instagram account since I was around 14, and I mostly used that account for personal/aesthetic purposes with a very small audience. I'm now 20, and I've had a new IG account for around two years. That IG account has grown larger than I'd expected, but my engagement and growth are completely unstable and irregular. Almost all I post is selfies, and while almost everyone is very kind and encouraging, I feel they're not interacting with me for the right reasons.
I'm a writer; poet, author, essayist, and more. My current audience doesn't care about that. They just follow me for my "aesthetic appeal", and sometimes for my less-nuanced subculture content.
I want to grow an audience that engages and interacts with my more personal, thought-out (and career-oriented) content, but I don't want to kill my account and trigger the algorithm to shadowban me.
So: should I create a new account? If so, when should I do that to ensure the best engagement from the jump? Should I keep the old one to direct traffic towards the new one? Lmk!
