  • I can’t get my posts viewed without paying 😔

So, I started my business 2 weeks ago and I’m doing well, but I feel like I’ve hit a wall and my social media posts are not growing unless I pay for them to.

I don’t want to continue the cycle of dumping money into advertising just to get a few clicks and orders.

I’m not super social media savvy but I think my posts look good and the people who do see them seem to like them. It’s just that not a lot of people see them unless I pay.

I’ve been using boost socials hashtags and I try to use trending sounds, as well as create visually interesting posts, but barely anyone sees them.

If you want to look and give some advice as to where I’ve gone wrong, my Instagram is @hoshi_gato.

Distribution has forever been the main obstacle to promotion and communication. Just because you have a business, it doesn’t mean people are going to know it’s there and walk through your door. Similarly, just because you have a social media profile, it doesn’t mean people are going to know it’s there and follow and engage with your posts.

Unless you want to play the long game — like several months of strategic content generation and posting to an apparent void while engaging in other ways across the platform — you simply have to pay for your audience when you start. The key is to target people who would actually be relevant to your business, not everyone, so that the audience you build over time is relevant.

Even then you have to have a plan for generating valuable organic content or there’s no reason for people to follow you.

First, there is one video that outperforms every other. Do you know why?
It has personality and a hook. The graphic ones won’t work. Keep thinking in hooks. Another one I‘d immediately could think of is: perfumes inspired by anime characters. „Ever wondered what Vegeta would smell like?“ than show the perfume in action while using voice over to describe the scents.

Secondly, instagram algorithm doesn’t like the TikTok watermark. Edit the video in a neutral app like CapCut and upload it separately.

    Good luck!

Welcome to the world of social media.

I’m a social media manager and you now have to pay to play. You also need to do it in a very strategic way to be successful because the competition is strong.

You need to collaborate with people who have a bigger fan base. & mention, tag, & promote each others collaboration.

    Collab with people you admire.

Don’t put yourself into a corner by limiting yourself or your clients, expand your horizons.
Does your product target a specific type of person? Don’t limit yourself make it for everyone target everyone.

Volunteer to assist with people who do what you already do to learn or want to do to expand new tools for your business.

I just made a business account, does that mean I’ll have less views compared to a regular account? Unless I pay?

Are you selling the fragrance and art?

If so, here’s my honest opinion on what’s probably hurting you. Don’t mean this to be rude or anything, but, well it’s truthful and hopefully helpful.

You aren’t selling or getting engagement with your product because you don’t have a social media for them. Both of your accounts appear to be personal accounts with a bit of advertising sprinkled in. There’s so much about you as a person. Make separate professional accounts for your business and keep yourself out. Keep everything but business out. No politics, no identity, no talk about yourself.

You’re very vulgar. There’s swearing in your profile pic on tiktoc, in your videos, in your subtitles. Algorithms may not like that and a lot of people don’t like that. You want to sell to more people, it’s really easy to just not do things that might drive customers away.

You’re going to hate this one, but it’s probably your biggest problem. The audience you are advertising to is incredibly niche. You seem to be directing yourself to selling primarily to LGBT people, you’ve already cut out at least 90% of the population in America if not more. Factor in the fact most LGBT people are gen z or millenials therefore have less disposable income because enconemy sucks. Cut out all the people who don’t like trans people, don’t like the opinions you post, don’t like your very alt queer vibes . Now look at the subset of this group that actually wants perfume. Incredibly niche. You would get abundantly more interaction and purchases if you stopped making being queer a part of your brand. The more you can do to open up your market the better. You may not like that, but it’s the truth. Think about all the top perfume brands and ask yourself how much they narrow their own market. None. They say what it smells like and if it’s for men or women. Their advertising is all weird ass cerebral vibes and maybe a famous person.

You also need to up your video and audio quality. Your graphic design is pretty good, but most of your posts are videos of just yourself talking and the audio makes me not want to watch it. You need interesting engaging content, people are swiping by because just a person talking at them is not grabbing their attention.

I do think your shops theme is really cute. You talking about your standards and how other products are low quality and don’t follow standards, that great. People love that “all natural better for you” and “what youre using right now might actually be crap” stuff. I’d really lean into that. It takes a long time to get any traction onsocila media. It’s a hard grind. You’re looking at good quality daily posts for weeks. There’s a reason companies pay whole teams of people millions to do their advertising.
