I've been trying to build a better version of Linktree for the past 6 months, and think I've finally stumbled upon something that works well. Here's what I've tried so far, and why they worked or failed:

    1. Made a link-in-bio that users could purchase affiliate products directly from brands, right inside the link. That seemed like a much better product from a consumer standpoint; customers could purchase products across multiple brands in one checkout flow. While customers who were presented with the idea were excited about it, in practice most end-consumers didn't trust purchasing products from sites that weren't branded. Another problem was also that in order for this to work, brands had to be partnered with the platform, which grew tedious, and influencers weren't interested in promoting brands that they themselves hadn't fostered a relationship with.
    2. Made a version that had 2 pages, one that was a linktree-like feed of products, and one that functioned as a UGC content portfolio. Saw insights that creators were willing to pay for things like Shopify and Canva just to set up portfolio websites, and realized that there might be a need for a product that can represent a creator's image to both a brand and to their following. In the end this honestly worked terribly, since I got feedback that what they send to brands they wouldn't necessarily want to sent to end consumers. It did provide some helpful awareness of what end consumers find attractive though, which led to my most recent build.
    3. I made a version that was all about content. Images and auto-play videos galore, with options to expand the content or link directly to whatever you're trying to sell. It's still early days, but this product is honestly working incredibly well. I have one creator with 22k insta followers that is driving insane traffic, and getting 1000+ link clicks per day with a 73% conversion rate, and that doesn't seem to be a one-off. Learning from her page's analytics section, I can see that the links that are getting the most clicks are absolutely the ones that are the most visually appealing. What I find most exciting about it is that it could serve a number of different purposes for the creator; since links are optional it could also act as that UGC portfolio that creators were asking for before. It's all up to the creator to decide what to use it for.

Are there any other insights to be had here? Has anyone else tried out multiple different link-in-bio tools and found differences in conversion rates?

Edit: if you'd like to try out the latest build I've linked it in a comment below, completely free, always just looking for feedback!

Great work! I’d love to see how this evolves over time.
