How to get google ads search volume?

Posted by atm_yo on June 7, 2024 at 3:49 pm

Hey guys, I'm looking to start running ads for my barbershop

However, when I do my KW research, I'm only getting ranges (0-10 or 10-100 and some 100-1000) for keyword search volume. Is there a way to get the "exact" number for this? Does it only show up AFTER you start running ads? How was it for you if you had this issue? How much money did you have to spend to get this data?

    Thanks!

Use Google Keyword Planner. You can see the estimated search volume, competition level, top of page CPC, and much more. It’s very helpful! There is no way to get the “exact” number of search volume. It’ll always be an estimate.

Hey here’s a “trick” for getting a better estimate for max search volume once you start running ads and getting at least 10% impression share:

Take your impression volume for a month, divide it by your impression share.

In other words: Max Imp Volume for a period = Imp for that period / Imp Share for that period. You can then use this to project out a better estimate of demand.

To anyone just getting started in SEM, I highly recommend setting up a formula column for this in your reporting platform of choice.

The search volumes in the keyword planner are only estimates in wild ranges until you put you credit card info and start spending money. Alternatively, you could use a basic seranking plan which is around $50/month.
