  • How to find keywords to optimize for?

Can someone walk me through the steps to come up with a list of keywords to optimize for? Also what does it mean to focus on long tail keywords and how do I find them? Thanks.

Right now, I’m brainstorming a list of keywords. I run a mentorship platform so that would be business mentor, career coach, startup mentor, etc. Plugging that into google keyword planner to see monthly search volume and competition, and using the ones with low competition and high volume as a keyword. I’m having trouble finding long tail keywords though. Can you help? Thanks!

    1. Go into Google Search Console
    2. Click Performance (left side)
    3. Click Average Position so its displayed.
    4. Scroll down and sort by position.
    5. Work your way down the list starting from anything 4 and higher.

These will be the keywords you’re almost ranked #1 for. If you see any that are like rank 11 but get serious traffic, put in the work to get at least get them to 10 so they appear on page 1.
