I apologize if this is off topic for this subreddit.
So I am a current student/job seeker and I decided to search my name to see what comes up if a hiring manager sees. Google is fine however Bing returns a very unfortunate top result, it’s about a child psychiatrist convicted of child porn.. the yahoo news article has nothing to do with me other than it’s in my location, is there anything I can do to get it not to show as that looks extremely bad as a first result and I’m sure most won’t bother to look of it is even relevant?

Thanks for the time and again if this is the wrong subreddit could you point me in the right direction?

There’s nothing you can do (easily or quickly) to “change search results” like you’re describing but something you can do is to start branding yourself professionally on your resume/LI/etc. as a variant of your name, e.g. John MiddleName Smith instead of just John Smith, or maybe use some variation/nickname of your first name. You can also register a domain with your name (johnmiddlenamesmith.com) which ought to come up at the top of search results for that name, and also generally just looks professional as fuck (bonus points if you get a custom email setup so you can list your email address on your resume as [email protected])
