  • How Should I Approach Multiple Pages on the Same Concept for SEO Ranking?

Posted by Any_Task_3607 on June 19, 2024 at 5:12 am

Hey everyone, I need some advice. I have 3 to 5 pages on my website covering the same concept, each focusing on different aspects like the importance, the basics, and a pitch page. I'm struggling with ranking these pages effectively. Should I consolidate them into one comprehensive page, or is there a better strategy to avoid keyword cannibalization and improve SEO? Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Put yourself in the position of your target readers/audience. Then think: would you prefer to read the full details in a single page? Or is there a good reason to keep them separate that would make your readers happy?

Chances are you may need to consolidate everything in one page. But that depends on (1) what’s best for your audience and (2) your specific goals for those pages/content.

Bear in mind that not every page should be optimized for Google. Yes they can still be indexed, but without significant search volume/demand for the content, your webpage won’t drive you clicks even if it soars to page 1 of SERPs.

In that case, you’re better off making this kind of decisions based on UX and conversion rate optimization. Then explore other content opportunities for capturing targeted traffic and qualified leads.

Standard approach that still works is to build one central page that covers the whole topic, then link out to your pages where different aspects are covered in more detail. Also link back from the detail pages to the central page.

If the individual pages cover aspects that people actively search for, you should keep them. In some cases even if they cover things that people don’t actively search for but might be happy to find once they’re on your site.

In most cases you should NOT consolidate everything on a huge page and get rid of the detail pages.
