  How semrush, ahref etc get the data

  I still wonder from where these websites get analytics data from? Particularly for competitior website. Any pointers? Thinking of creating a tools website.

  For traffic, they don’t get the data. They show you an estimate based on the search volume and your SERP ranking. And the search volume is also an estimate and SERP rankings are mostly personalized for your real users.

  So it is an estimate derived from two other estimates.
