How many keywords do you have, on average, for each campaign?

Posted by seohelper on March 3, 2020 at 1:55 pm

Just wondering if you guys think its better to have more keywords per campaign, or just a few core keywords?

It depends. Overtime I seem to have 15-20 if you count all the various match types

    7000+

Depends on what you are targeting

For my campaigns we have thousands of keywords that fit

Think ad groups not campaigns. Keep your ad groups tightly themed. There shouldn’t be a lot more than maybe 3 keywords on an Exact Match ad group, for example (same way 1 modified broad match keyword should be enough).

Completely depends on the goal and strategy of the specific campaign.

If I counted across all of our clients I’d guess it would come out to about 15-20. This is not necessarily of purpose. When Google came up with that number as a best-practice it was probably based on averages.
