How long until Google Shopping campaign receives first impressions?

Posted by SamAsksThings on October 13, 2023 at 9:14 pm

New merchant account with approved products. Enabled the campaign 4 hours ago.

Just got the account out of suspension by adhering to the policies. Re-enabled my campaign (Google suspended the account and disapproved all products within 3 hours of starting campaign)

Am I right saying waiting 5 – 7 days to see first impressions on the campaign is right?

Do I need to make a new campaign?

Yeah, it starts off really slow as Google learns where to show your ads. It’s also worse if you’re starting an account with no data. You should have at least one impression within 48 hours though.

If all products need to be checked, 24-48 hrs depending on the website crawl rate

Make sure you have GTINs set up for each product too. This can really slow down exposure. If your products are new you will need to buy GTINs for your business and products.

Also, if you are selling really common products that others sell it’s going to take a little longer to rank well against the existing sellers and you will have to pay more per click.

Finally, if your bids are too low you will not see impressions. Don’t think that Google’s projected CPCs in the keyword tools are what you will pay from the outset. CPCs at the start can be a multiple higher than Google’s estimates.

Standard shopping usually works immediately but with automated bidding and a long layoff it could take several days or even a few weeks to ramp up.

You might try running Max Conv. Value without any target to start to help it spend. However, that doesn’t always expedite things either.

If you don’t get any impressions at all in 48-hours it’s worth checking in with support just to be sure everything is set up correcty.
