How helpful is a mention and a backlink in Forbes, Bloomberg, The New York Times, etc. in terms of SEO or page ranking?
Hi guys. I’m interested in knowing how helpful, if at all, getting your company mentioned (and a backlink) from the above sources or similar is? I see a few PR firms offering this option and while it’s not necessarily “break the bank” money I’m wondering if the ROI is worth it?

If you get it at a low cost + it’s a contextual backlink, it’s worth it.
If they charge a ton + it’s a random out of context mention, then it’s not.
Usually, companies that offer this as a service deliver the 2nd.

Why would you pay a PR firm to get it? You can go directly to Forbes (and the rest of them) yourself and create content to get published on their sites. It’s usually in the “contributor” or “opinion” sections, and sometimes “sponsored”.
You don’t need a PR firm to get stuff published on those sites. You just have to enroll, pay the fee, and create content that their editors then review and may require edits before publishing.

Links from such websites result in a heavy jump in serps. I will recommend this

I would imagine that a sponsored link is worth a lot less than a natural link.
I have had naturally occurring links from all of these sites and can tell you that it was very noticeable and incredibly helpful the first time I got a backlink from the NYT.
