How do you increase retention with your google shopping channel?
Google shopping for us has been more of a new acquisition channel. I know that we can do it through email (we have email subscription), but are there other ways to do retention within google shopping ads?

Retention is just remarketing in the end. Figure out what people buy and how you can show them ads when they are searching online. You can remarket to past purchasers. A lot will come down to your audiences lists and your product catalog.

Dynamic and traditional remarketing through Google Ads, FB Ads, and other channels as appropriate. Email campaigns as you suggested. These are the main two methods.
Ensure that you are incentivising your customers with special offers.
