I have a CMO that demands we try and forecast the impact of initiatives to keep the team on track with what has the greatest potential to drive growth – what metrics or methods do you use to try and measure the positive impact, be it content, technical changes etc.

I don’t know the exact business, but usually I track a collection of metrics and their percentage impact on revenue and then map it out with the SEO actions that I am doing.

Like recently, I’m working with an e-commerce brand and I’m working on technical, content, digital PR but it’s really hard to map out impact of technical or digital PR on revenue.

But content can be mapped out and that’s what I’m doing. So whatever content we are creating I’m trying to predict the ranking of it in the next 4 to 5 months then using conversion percentage formula to figure out how much revenue that will be.

And presenting that to the client.

I think that is something that you can try out. But again exactly mapping out different SEO actions to the revenue is really really hard.
