  • How can I get a remote social media job with a PR degree but no work experience?

I’ve been working as a paralegal for five years and I’m looking to get a part-time remote social media job. I majored in PR in college but I have never worked in PR or any other related field. I am aware of some social media management tactics (I learned a lot about SEO, crisis management, I wrote press releases and made leaflets for real businesses, etc.). I do not want to quit my paralegal gig as it is my regular source of income and I like the legal field, but I want to break into something else during my free time. How exactly do I go about this? I have been applying to entry-level social media positions, but I’m not getting any interviews. I think it might be because my only work experience is legal, and my PR degree is being overlooked as a result. I personally feel like my legal experience is a plus, because I’ve been doing intense, detail-oriented writing in a professional setting for five years.

I have been working on Upwork for over 3 years, now, and I am very happy. I had to suck it up at the beginning and learn from experience. I learnt how to propose, present, etc
If you are oriented on a freelance job rather than a employment job, I’d suggest you to try it. Either way, to start you’ll need a strong portfolio. Work on some personal accounts if you don’t have any. Good luck for your career!

I have a part time, flexible social media role at my current company. It’s FinTech based, if you’re interested PM me.

There are so many charities and non-profits that are trying to up their social media game right now. You could volunteer with one or two to build your portfolio and demonstrate your skills, while you are still working. Once you’ve got the confidence and references you can move onto a paid position more easily.

You just missed campaign season, but there is a high demand for social media managers every two years, help you build up your resume. Across the country thousands of candidates most without a lot of support.

Ok how bad do you want cash right now? Because I have an idea if you are open minded. Maybe it’s worth a listen, not searching to scam or anything. Get back to me if interested,
