    Hi all,

So I’m asking cuz I’m always a bit hesitant, but should I hide negative Facebook comments. I manage the accounts for an event that’s focused on helping the environment.

In today’s climate (pun), so much is political. This shouldn’t be, but you get the usual communist comments and woke comments.

They aren’t the type of negative comments that you can sorta twist to improve customer relationships, they’re just flat out negative, politically driven comments. Is it safe to just hide them? I don’t want a post to appear as spammy due to these comments, or keep people from positively engaging with the post

Purely out of curiosity what is a “negative” “woke” comment when it comes to talking about the environment?

    I am genuinely curious.

I absolutely hide or delete negative comments- it influences others and distracts from what I’m trying to advertise

If it’s just ignorance or confusion I may leave it up and respond to correct them

You can hide them so that the person and their friends can still see them. That generally the entirety of the negative audience anyway!

Transparency is good. If you’re able to respond professionally and spin it around positively then keep them. People are entitled to their opinions. Let them speak them. Not everyone needs a response when they don’t agree.

It depends on your brand. I always got 5g conspiracy nuts on mine and I’d just subtly make fun of them. Another brand leaves the racist shit up and makes fun of them.

What would your customers want you to do?

A response matrix is good for this. If it’s related to the business then you should respond, if it’s derogatory, rude or offensive then hide it. If it goes against Facebooks ToS then report it.
