I'm curious to hear your thoughts and ideas! I'm working with my friends on a new decentralized and depolarizing social media platform that aims to be different from the existing ones. Your feedback could be very helpful!

I fundamentally dislike the concept of modern social media. It seems that they have lost their original meaning of connecting people and have turned into a kind of marketplace, with a perpetual pursuit of algorithms. The Instagram of 2018 was a platform with authentic bloggers and the ability to see your friends’ likes through the following tab. Now, it’s either a bunch of promotional content or fairly so-so TikTok-style videos.

Hi, for social media, I miss when everything was casual and for fun. I don’t mind short form content, but I miss when content creators did everything for fun and less of a staged video or picture. I study marketing and social media is great for business, but I would like to see something for fun that I could look at and enjoy!

2010-2015 was peak social media for me. Everything kinda went. A lot of people got discovered during this period. Now everything is run by AI algorithms that sucks the fun of the early days of social media. It’s super hard to “go viral” nowadays without having to please the algorithm for months by spamming content. People who really care about quality before quantity are out of luck. I would try to keep it open and not as moderated as reddit is now for example. I would take what made reddit, instagram, youtube and facebook fun in the early days and mimic that.

Turn of the stupid algorithms deciding what I see and what I don’t. I know it’s their business model, but ffs if I follow someone I want to see what they post.

The best platform is no platform or platform where you are disconnected after 15 minutes
