  • Hey everyone, I would appreciate feedback on this social media website.

The website revolves around influencers posting trends and users reply to that trend with their own unique content. We deem a trend as anything that has a call to action and starts a following. This can be anything, such as a trick shot, a dance routine, etc.

All replies are voted on anonymously by either a “trend-it which gives the user +1 trend, an “end-it” which is -1 trend to the user (can’t go below 0) and a “share-it” which is +2 trends to the user. The more trends a user amasses, the more features they unlock. Think of “trends” as a currency. For example, you need 1,000 trends to start a trend topic (Page for that topic). 10,000 to monetize your page, etc. Furthermore, these trends can be amassed in other ways, such as simply uploading content, spending a prolonged time on the platform, virtual gifting users, etc.

Our goal is to provide recognition to content creators that are seeking fame. On other social media websites, mega-influencers seem to swarm the platforms, we do not want to reward follower count, only trend count!

We have several unique features, one being users only compete for recognition with other users that have a similar follower count. This is to reduce the impact mega-influencers have. Furthermore, we provide “Badges.” These are rewards for surpassing achievements. These are displayed on the users profile. They provide a sense of status for the user. There are several badges which are achieved in different ways. This can include, uploading content, logging on several days in a row, reaching a specific amount of trends etc.

Sounds like Redditt? I understand that. There are similarities but the core is different. No one has become famous from Redditt, well let me re-state, few have, and even fewer remember those individuals. Our goal is to provide recognition to all users, and let everyone decide if it’s worthy enough for fame. If it is, these individuals through previously mentioned features, will go viral!

Followers can be fake but trends are real.

I look forward to feedback that roasts me and this website and constructive criticism. Stay safe and healthy.

    Cheers!

So basically you’ve gamified tiktok? Interesting concept to encourage growth for content creators, the struggle will be converting a base of content consumers to support it all. Also, its not a good look to say “go viral” anymore.

If trends are the currency, I don’t know if we’re rich enough for the volume you’re projecting. I don’t want your creativity to get bogged down with an arbitrary number, but if your scalability is rooted in monitoring trends, then you’re really just creating a platform to react to [Google Trends](https://trends.google.com/trends/?geo=US). Projecting 1,000 of them turns the fun of TikTok into a job, with the only benefit being badges and an undefined engagement model.

TikTok’s success isn’t just in the music integration, but its ability to create trends through tech. And even then, they’re fleeting. Twitter has commodified trending topics. Instagram has taught us to kinda hate them (see: Joe Exotic). And just like Reddit, I don’t think trends are as rich as you’d hope. Eventually, the dead horse is beaten until it becomes Advice Animals. It’s why the same shoes are routinely upvoted on r/sneakers; why r/streetwear is more of a uniform than a trend starter; why r/malefashionadvice is Esquire without the credibility.

I fear you might be cheapening the exact thing you want to monetize.

You combined Reddit and Tik Tok? Sounds brilliant if you’ve got the money to get downloads
