  • Help with Instagram Audience After Viral Reel

Hey there! I manage the social media for an account with about 25k followers on IG. Maybe 6 months ago we had a mega viral reel… oops. Since then, our engagement has tanked and we are not getting eyes on our content unless it is outlandishly clickbait-y or similar to the viral reel content. We are an American based company and yet, for the past 90-days, 30% of our reach is coming from Iran! Is there any way to course correct and get back to our core audience?? Thanks!

I’ve never had something like this happen before to your extent, but my advice would be to really focus on creating original, valuable content for your target customer. Really get to know who they are and how your account solves their problems. Then, delete and block spammy accounts that comment. I imagine this would slowly fix the problem and filter out bots.

It’s been happening a lot with Reels since Instagram is trying to be like TikTok and push out videos to their FYP.

Unfortunately there’s nothing you can except continue it make high quality content. Having more followers can help your account grow but followers that are out of market lowers engagement.
