  • Help me monetize my 100k (niche) Facebook group

Posted by Ok_Letterhead1096 on August 28, 2024 at 12:29 am

I have a very successful Facebook group with 100k members that I started neatly 10 years ago and deal with the admin responsibilities daily. It’s a fairly niche group and we are the largest (by 20-30k) group in that niche on Facebook.

For the life of me I can’t seem to monetize it.

I’ve started two related side businesses, the one directly related failed miserably. The other one is doing quite well, but stands on its own and is a long way from generating any income.

My group gets almost 700k page views per month and I get squat. How can I change this?

And yes I’ve read the articles – do affiliate marketing, live coaching, create a class etc but that doesn’t really fit my group and my posts go unnoticed.

Thoughts? Im tired of throwing my time into this but don’t want to give it up without trying everything.

    1. Encourage members to share their own content, like tutorials, guides or personal stories related to the niche.

    2. Introduce a paid membership tier that offers exclusive content.

    3. Direct sponsorships and partnering with influencers.

    4. Open a merch.

    5. Host webinars, virtual workshops or group-meet ups to create a more personal connection with the community and open up new monetization avenue.

    6. Paid surveys. Leverage your group’s size by partnering with companies that conduct market research.

    7. Experiment with Facebook’s ad network to target very specific products or services relevant to your niche.

    8. Pin important announcements or create posts that encourage interaction.

Unless you run ads Facebook is hard. They do everything they can to keep people on their platform. The only suggestions I have is potential brand deals, hosting events like paid webinars, sell merchandise and digital products.

Create a free PDF guide or a tutorial

Have a pinned post and a QR code in the banner that leads to your landing page

Collect emails in exchange for the freebie

Start a newsletter and monetize it with ads / your own digital product / service

The goal is to own your audience.
If your group is taken down you would still own your email list.

One thing you could try is creating a lead magnet, like a free PDF guide or ebook that’s super valuable to your niche. Promote it with a pinned post and a call-to-action in your group’s banner. Collect emails in exchange for the guide, and then you can build an email list.

With that list, you could start a newsletter that focuses on your niche and monetize it with ads, sponsored content, or even your own digital products. That way, you’re not just relying on Facebook, which could change its policies at any moment. You could also consider hosting paid virtual events or workshops that dive deeper into the niche topics your group loves. This could open up more direct income streams and engage your community more deeply.

I’d also suggest exploring brand partnerships directly relevant to your niche. Even small deals can add up and keep things authentic to your community. Just my two cents—sometimes it’s about thinking outside the box and diversifying where the income comes from!

Offer a service that’s related to your niche or promote a sponsor for related products/services to your niche. Hard to give more specific ideas without knowing what the niche is

You’ve built a bloody impressive community, so let’s turn that into cash. First, ditch the idea of relying solely on Facebook; own your audience by collecting emails with a valuable freebie like an eBook or tutorial. Use that to launch a newsletter where you can monetize through ads.

Introduce exclusive content or events—consider webinars or workshops tailored to your niche. Charge for access and ensure they’re worth it. Direct sponsorships are vital too; partner with brands that align with your group’s interests.

Encourage members to share their expertise—this builds engagement and visibility for monetization opportunities. Experiment strategically within Facebook’s ad network but don’t overdo it; focus on authenticity and connection.

It sounds exhausting but think outside the box. With the right strategy, you won’t be left empty-handed anymore.
