  • Help? IG new feature is screwing us.

So IG has this new feature that it shows where a company is “based out of” if they have large audiences. They say this new feature is supposed to make sure things are not misleading and transparent. Except it is.

I run our socials, I’m in Canada. The company I work for is a financial service entirely based in the US and only services US residents.

ALL our organic posts and profile show we are based in Canada. This is so misleading and screwing prospective customers.

I’ve tried reporting the problem on IG every single day. I’ve used the help chat through our FB ad account/business suite but if you’ve dealt with them before you know their support is not helpful and they can’t help me.

What do I do?? This is so bad.

Thanks for flagging — was unaware of this. Have you tried switching to a VPN? Maybe if you ping from a US server when working in the app, you can convince the algorithm you’re in the US.

Can you post a screenshot or something? I haven’t heard about this before and I have a very similar work setup (based on Canada running socials for American company’s).

First time hearing this. Is this related to where the location of the admins of the page is set rather than where the content is posted from?

If so -assuming it is safe for the operations- adding more admins from the desired country should do the trick.
