I’m mainly a Dev, I have almost zero creativity and my jam is basically to “solve problems”, I have a nice Dev company but I realize (too late, too) that social media is really necessary and I wanted to offer SMM services to my clients.

I’ve had terrible experiences so far because this is a very particular area and the reason why I’ve gotten screwed or well at least lost time was because I la ked the essential knowledge.

I’m running an experiment to try and learn as much as I can about social media with s project (that’s the way I e Always learned stuff, by enjoying it). I created this IG account for my puppy, because who doesn’t like puppies! And I’m experimenting with different things line posts, reels, stories and stuff, just to ge the hang of it .

My wife helps me because she makes better content than me (my focus is on growth, engagement, stats).

Would it be possible for any of you to maybe check my account and see what I’m doing wrong Vs what I’m doing right? The account is @dr.oliver_mr.perry

I’m in Italy so I thought of doing it in Italian.

    ——

Without a boost I don’t seem to have visibility at all and I suspect it’s in part because of the way I handle tags (how many is too many, how can I do some research for them?) But also because of the time of the account (it has like 1 month or even less).

I’m planning on having a 1usd a day boost for a pic or video, set on automatic because I ran a few ads and the automatic were way less expensive and did s great job at picking the viewers! Plus I’m not in a position to correctly target the audience I want and instead I’m interpreting data.

This would help me understand how to judge a company later down the road that I could partner with for my clients. I’m also doing the same for SEO where, however I’m way more well versed.

    Thanks for the tips!

I’m in the same boat as you are. I’m in IT too but not a dev.

It’s a totally different approach when it comes to SMM. And it’s different for each platform(learned this the hard way).

    Demographics, intelligence, motivations, etc.

That besides the algorithm (which only the company knows).

A page about animals is cute but don’t expect to replicate the same result for another niche. You might want to include products that you can sell related to your puppy.

Since it’s more on emotional besides instagram you might also want tiktok.

Point is, experiment and test all you want. Make multiple accounts for different niches, study the leaders in those niches, etc.

It’s hard because you can’t do tests as fast as code. Plus if you use tools to game the system you can be suspended or banned.

If you have almost zero creativity, why are you taking a spot away from someone that IS creative? Do you know how many artists would like to be seen? The ones with actual talent?

I’m doing a social media train where we all like each other’s posts to boost engagement for free.
