Have You Had A Good Experience With Google’s Recommendations?

Posted by LilJQuan on February 16, 2023 at 4:44 pm

Google pushes broad match and their various other automations a lot.

I can’t go a single day without being told that ‘Upgrading to broad match would benefit the account’. I’ve tested things out a few times, everytime with a poor result.

Now, I don’t necessarily feel that they’re all bad. Automation is powerful and can make things far better. But, I do think that automation needs some human oversight. 50/50 between human and AI.

Has anyone followed Google recommendations and actually had a positive result?

The only google recommendations that i follow are the obvious ones like updating tCPA (but I leave the daily budget the same)

well yeah recommendations are just that: potential solutions you aren’t using that could benefit your performance and account

it mostly isn’t tailored to the account and isn’t recommended on a case by case basis as a ‘you should definitely apply this’, it just serves to show you tools you aren’t using that on average tend to improve performances

The decision to use them is up to yiu

My favorite is when a Google rep reaches out to you proactively to schedule an hour-long meeting, so they can read the cookie-cutter recommendations on your screen to you.

But if you need actual support? Nah, they’re not staffed for that.

The recos (either the automated ones or the ones from the standard reps) have a long way to go before I’ll put too much faith in them.
