Have recently moved from a role doing Google PPC to Amazon advertising

I’ve only a year of experience total with PPC, so i still feel there is so much to learn of course, but i’ve been looking at glass door reviews of others who had my current new role and they seem to be saying that amazon ppc is a very narrow area to be working in and like a niche specialist role, and that’s why they left.

Does this point have any merit? I’m just a bit worried i left google ads to do something that won’t open many doors for me in the future.

Amazon is niche because the pool of companies requiring it is limited compared to Google or FB.

There is a learning curve there as it’s slightly different from Google Ads, but the main concepts are similar.

There are less advertisers on Amazon than Google for sure. Doesn’t mean you cannot do Amazon PPC when there is a need to do so nor is there a reason you can’t manage campaigns on both sides or a dozen other platforms for that matter. I had a client once saying he uses Waze as well as Google. No problem. Waze made sense for him since it was a physical location so I simply learned what it was all about. I may never use it again unless it makes sense with another client. Actually, I could branch out and offer PPC services on Waze as many brick-and-mortar businesses could use it as well as Google. Don’t let smaller platforms deter you from working with any of them or think it can limit you in your career.
