GSC gives 5xx when I test pages that are working fine
I have several sites that when I try "Test live URL" on Google Search Console come back with a 5xx error.
If I look at the pages myself they look fine. I've tried turning off various security features but that hasn't helped.
All the sites are run through a CDN, so am thinking this might be the problem. Still waiting to hear back from their support, but wondered if anyone else had experienced something similar.
EDIT: I'm going to leave this here as a testament to my own idiocy, and also in case someone else finds it useful…
I decided to try some URLs on Page Speed Insights and lo and behold it couldn't analyze the pages. That made my think it was something to do with the server firewall so I disabled that, and bingo it started working.
Seems I added an IP block that must have included some Google addresses…. Lesson learned.
